Inquiry Details
National officials disclosed that the jet’s left wing burst into flames and an engine separated shortly after liftoff from the aviation hub, leading to the plane to fall and erupt into a fireball.
The safety agency has said it is examining the aircraft’s upkeep logs, which was in Texas for maintenance weeks before the accident.
Flight tracking records indicated the jet was on the tarmac in the Texas city from early September to mid-October.
“We are cognizant that this aircraft was present in the facility,” stated an investigator on later, not giving a precise date range. “We will look at each aspect of maintenance that was completed, including the Texas period, straight to the day of the flight.”
Recovery of Critical Evidence
The cockpit voice recorder and data recorder were found, and the power plant was found on the tarmac.
The units – referred to as data containers – were constructed to withstand crash impacts and extreme fire from blazes, and they looked to be undamaged when located within the wreckage. Authorities plan on examining recordings from the recorders.
Aircraft’s concluding recorded information displayed an elevation of that level and a speed of that speed before the crash.
Maintenance Background
Based on aviation authority records from 18 September, a fissure on a part inside the fuel container required fixes.
Singapore-based ST Engineering, which stated it offers structural repairs for the carrier’s MD-11 and operates a maintenance center in San Antonio, refused to comment, but said it would assist completely when officials contacted it.
